EUBCE 2020 – Official Announcement

EUBCE 2020 will fully integrate Bioeconomy into its conference programme

The European Biomass Conferences and Exhibition has grown from a small research community biomass conference more than 30 years ago to a well-established international conference, tackling challenges ranging from biomass growth and biomass conversion to bioenergy, biofuels and bioproducts, sustainability and policies, and to provide a forum for industrial implementation of technologies enabling the  transition away from fossil fuels economies. For all of these topics on integration of processes, technologies and value chains it has always been necessary to ensure the most efficient use of the limited biomass resource and enable economic viability. The ultimate step of integration is a fully functioning bioeconomy.

A bioeconomy existed in pre-industrial, pre-fossil fuel times, as well-established traditional bio-based activities, ranging from agriculture, food, feed, fibre and forest-based industries. A modern bioeconomy is now emerging, encompassing biomaterials and biochemicals production, along with traditional bio-based products. EUBCE tackles already some of the non-energy sectors such as biochemical and biomaterials and biorefineries. Bioeconomy encompasses the wide ranging economic sectors dealing with the growth, conversion, application and marketing of bioproducts and biochemicals from biogenic sources.
The 28th EUBCE will expand its portfolio from energy related biomass production and conversion of bio-based feedstock to other sectors of the economy and will now integrate the bioeconomy into its conference programme.

In 2020 the conference will include key sessions that will dig deep into the structure, components and role of the emerging bioeconomy in Europe and across the world. There will be plenty of opportunities to present, to listen to and to discuss the fine details of technology developments, options for mitigation of adverse environmental and climate impacts and engage in policy debates. Research results from all stages of development will continue to form the core of the conference. addressing the bioeconomy, the thread that links all facets of the growth and utilization of biomass now and in the future.

The organisers of the 28th EUBCE would like to invite all active workers in the field of biomass utilization, and indeed all people with an interest in being part of the emerging bioeconomy, to attend the event in April 2020 in Marseille, France.

Biomass to Contribute to China¡¯s Green Future
China¡¯s 13th five-year plan for the bioenergy industry is that by 2020, the nation¡¯s annual consumption of biomass energy will be equivalent to 58 million tons of standard coals. The installed capacity for biomass power generation will stand at 15 million kilowatt. Yearly consumption of biomass-to-liquid fuel and biomass pellets will respectively reach 6 million tons and 30 million tons.

Review of APBE 2018
APBE 2018 was successfully concluded with 160+ exhibitors, such as ROSHT (Korea), Polytechnik (Austria), Kingwood, Lvding Energy, Dizhonghai Boiler, Bioene, Lvtan Group, Dingliang, BSR, Vonton, Greenman, DLS, Hongxin Machinery, etc. Boilers & Burners enjoyed an overwhelming representation of 38%, followed by Pellet (19.9%), Briquette Fuels & Equipment (19.1%), Accessories (14.7%), and Bio Gasification (8.1%).

ENABLING 2nd workshop

BGBIOM organized the second workshop on ENABLING project on May 28, 2019, in frames of the workshop on the project “Healthy Foods for a Strong Bio-Economy and Quality of Life”. The meeting was held at the Agricultural University of Plovdiv and was opened by Prof. Hr.Yancheva, the Rector of the University. It was attended by 56 representatives of agrarian and food processing business – Scientific laboratories, project developers, and biomass producing farms. At the meeting BGBIOM presented the objectives and tasks of ENABLING project. The main tools of the project, developed to facilitate the stakeholders, have been presented as well. The questions about the kind of biomass, focused in ENABLING project, the use of trading platform, and the means of collaboration have been discussed.

Prof. Yancheva opened the meeting

Prof. Aladjadjiyan presented ENABLING project.

Workshop on ENABLING project

Within the framework of the 10th Specialized Exhibition and Conference on Waste Management and Recycling ‘Save the Planet’ hold in the International Expo Centre Sofia 16 – 18.04.2019, the National Biomass Association (BGBIOM) organized the first seminar with a workshop within the framework of the project ENABLING, funded by Horizon 2020. The list of attendees included 69 representatives from related entities. Presentations of the aims and tasks, as well the instruments of the project were presented by representatives of the BGBIOM. Experts from different fields presented the perspectives for re-use of agricultural residues and waste as raw materials for biobased products. Interviews from the beginning of the conference you can see here: .
